A great read for the youth, even though I'm a young adult I enjoy it a lot, I know adults can learn from this too. Oct 30, Gabby Romero rated it it was amazing. This book spoke to me personally because I am a Christian.
And in high school in can get difficult to remember who you are in Christ and who the world wants you to be. This book reminded me that it is okay to be different than everyone else. I am a strong believer that God made every one of us with a different potential and with different personalities and in that we should feel confident withing ourselves. Durso used the analogy of trying to fit through a hallway that seems to be getting smaller and smaller to our journey through life getting tougher and tougher.
Misfit: Dealing with Our God-Given Discomfort
It gave me a firm reminder that life as a Christian is never meant to be easy for us but we were made to be different to encourage others to be themselves and not fall under the pressure that society has placed on us. Another part of the book that really spoke to me is when he compared us to Jesus. Knowing that Jesus is perfect and we aren't some might have found this analogy strange but I understood it. He walked on this Earth with people exactly like us. Knowing that we made mistakes but forgiving us anyway.
He accepted us the way we are which is what I feel we should do with others. Accept them as they are and be content with who we are in the process. It can be difficult to stand up to the crowd knowing that drinking, doing drugs and going to parties is what's going to help everyone else know that you're "cool".

But in the end we were meant to make mistakes and learn from them, and let others learn from them. That's what I took out of the story. Even though we make mistakes all the time and fall under peer pressure sometimes, we need to pick ourselves up move on and remember who we are. Oct 04, Connor W. This book was great! I really connected with the way Durso portrays the way Christians are supposed to be misfits. He tells us that being different and going against the grain is okay. I love how he gives two definitions of a misfit; one bad, one good.
In this way I was able to realize that point of view can really change someone's way of thinking. Dec 03, Jamie Eichler rated it really liked it. Jesus, the MISFIT
Monette rated it liked it Sep 25, Thinking about God this way seems odd because we are not naturally trained to do so. He was disruptive and revolutionary. The religious leaders of the day had no clue in how to deal with him. I think if Jesus was living today, he would look just like me. Braided beard, earrings, tattoos, skinny jeans, bald head, and all. I think he would blow out of the water our perception of what people of God should look like.
